Peste des petits ruminants

Pigs

During the 1970s, the experimental inoculation of African pigs with PPRV was not followed by the expression of any clinical signs. The animals' only reaction was to produce antibodies. However, recent experiments have just found that European pigs are susceptible to this virus, show clinical signs of the disease, and are able to transmit the disease to small ruminants with which they are in contact (personal communication).
